Uh, I’m in a little reading slump! Haven’t finished any books last week and I also haven’t made much progress!

I am exactly 50% into The Shadow Rising by Robert Jordan and I gotta say, I’m disappointed. If that’s the best the series has to offer, I’m worried! So far it’s lots of fillers, nothing happens and everyone is acting annoying!

I am on page 227/448 of Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb and it’s already staring to break my heart again! The illustrations stay beautiful and I’m already so looking forward to the illustrated edition of Royal Assassin!

I am also trying out a few samples at the moment and got stuck with The Paladin by C.J. Cherryh. Long time no see! I am on page 81/384 and enjoy reading about a determined young woman who is training to become a badass swordfighter so she can avenge her family. It’s an Asia-inspired setting so that’s a plus as well!

I have a couple more samples lined up for today. Let’s hope they’re all good so I can add to my Winter TBR^^

Apart from reading and watching wrestling, I’ve started The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. After 2 episodes in, I enjoy it very much! Sure, it has all the horror clichees, but I’m not expecting anything else and the atmosphere is great! And haunted houses will always be a favourite trope.

Walter was joining in. That black furry shadow there at the bottom 😀

Be kind & have a lovely week! ❤

  1. When I read the Shadow Rising in ’11 I gave it 5 stars. This time around, I down graded it to 4. I really suspect the age of the reader has a lot to do with how great this appears. And honestly, when it came out, we were all expecting it to wrap up by book 6, maybe 8 at most. Silly us….

  2. The Assassin’s Apprentice illustrations are wonderful! Now I want my own copy 😉
Sorry to hear you’re struggling with Jordan… Hope you’ll conquer the slump and the book in no time! 😀

  3. Sorry to hear you’re in a slump! I haven’t read quite as much as I hoped to read this month yet either, but I’m hoping I might be able to get through a few more books before June. I found Assassin’s Apprentice quite slow-going, but I’m around 150 pages from the end of Royal Assassin now and I’ve gobbled it up far quicker even though it’s twice the length of the first book! I can feel myself slowly becoming obsessed with this series, so once I finish Royal Assassin it won’t be long before I reach for Assassin’s Quest. The illustrated edition looks beautiful!

I really want to give The Haunting of Hill House a try, but I’m such a baby when it comes to films/TV shows about ghosts. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! 😀
