Books, Dogs & Gardening #15

I finished 3 books this week – what a good start into March! They were all really good too, this year I am very lucky with my picks.

I finished:

  • The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan
  • Saga Vol. 9 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
  • Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

the great hunt

They were all good in their own way! The Great Hunt was a wild ride. I have my summary posts scheduled up until the middle of April so I won’t rush to get to The Dragon Reborn. Even though I already bought it and it’s calling out to me! The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills! I guess…. I’m having a lot of fun reading the series and now even more because I discovered a great twitter community to share my excitement (and annoyance^^) with.

saga 9Saga ripped out my heart. What a horrible, horrible twist! I can’t, I don’t believe it! Damn, those graphic novels… They are excellent, but I care too much about the characters! I’m up to date now too, there won’t be any new volumes for a while if I got that right. Ah well… it goes on the long list of series I’ve caught up with^^

Nevermoor was honestly the best thing and exactly what Inevermoor was looking for! I read it way too quickly, but it was so much fun, I couldn’t make myself stop. Am weak^^ If you wanna dig you can find things that don’t make sense and some annoyances like keeping back information. But the world is so magical and I felt similar to when I was reading Harry Potter and that is what I wanted!! It wasn’t a copy but its own thing. With the best characters and emphasis on friendship. All hail to Fenestra, the Magnificat 🙂

I’m currently reading 2 different books. One is The Lost Man by Jane Harper. It seems to be a stand alone and doesn’t feature Aaron Falk, the detective in her first 2 novels. It’s playing in the heart of the Outback and so far it’s pretty scary & interesting.  up to page 45/362 so good chance I finish it next week!

The other book I’m reading was a spontaneous purchase cause I enjoyed the sample. It’s The Unspoken Name by A. K. Larkwood, a recent publication, and I’m up to 17% now. It’s …. not as good anymore now I gotta admit. Some things are not making any sense to me and aren’t well thought through. I like the 2 main characters so far though, so I keep on reading and hope things will become clearer soon!

I started listening to Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher. It’s Harry’s 8th case and it’s driving me mad at the moment. I even considered dropping it. Still on the edge, I let you know how I go. But Harry’s freaking righteousness is pissing me off so much! And let’s not even talk about the fact he’s drooling over a 17yo girl. Yes, he knows it’s wrong but the fact that the author can’t let it go makes me confused. I have 9h20min of 16h15min left.

I will probably stick with those next week and maybe start with The Dragon Reborn and The Consuming Fire by John Scalzi.  If I get too annoyed by Harry Dresden, I jump straight into Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire!

Yes, I enjoy my books a whole lot at the moment!

Have a wonderful week!

  1. You had a great week! I had some problems with The Unspoken Name, too. I was really into it at the beginning but after a while some things started to bugger me. I enjoyed the reading anyway but… I was expecting more!
