Books, Dogs & Gardening #11

I think I had the most successful bookish week in ages! I finished a total of 3 books and while I’m typing this I might still finish a 4th!

I am the book champ!

So here are the books I finished this week:

The Hanged Man. Tarot Sequence 2 / K.D. Edwards – Review is coming next week. I liked it, but not as much as the first part. It was still very enjoyable for a sequel but a couple things fell flat. I’m still very much looking forward to book 3 though!

the hanged man

The Collapsing Empire / John Scalzi – OHMYWORD, I need to tell you all to pick up this book, it was SO GOOD, I can’t believe I was so lucky with my choices this month! I need to read ALL THE SCALZI now, so please feel free to give me recommendations!!! I feel 2020 will be the year of SciFi for me πŸ™‚

the collapsing empire

Saga, Vol. 8 – Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples – Okay, that’s a graphic novel, but I still count it^^ It was pretty good again and focused on the quieter moments between characters & less action. But I like this and it definitely set up for what’s to come…. And it won’t be good!

Saga 8

Apart from that I have started The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan and am up to 6% – about to start chapter 3. Next to this I began reading Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie and am now on page 52 of 191. I’ve never read her before, I don’t even know any of the stories as movies, but one of my customers has a whole collection and I borrowed 3 of her novels. I hope I enjoy her writing!

It’s definitely a good month for reading! But I also have to confess that my favourite wrestling promotion is on a break until the start of February so my evenings are mostly free πŸ˜€

We had funny weather – after all the heat there was lots of rain and instead of bushfires there were floods! Not where I live, but close enough to keep an eye out. Next week should be hot again so let’s hope it doesn’t all repeat itself 😦

Some pics now:

We had breakfast at our favourite cafe again! This time we went for the share board. Delicious!!

I also went shopping at the Asian supermarket and got some coffee & matcha latte

When I’m reading the dogs know it’s cuddle time πŸ™‚ This is tradition now!

Have a lovely week!!

  1. Hail the Book Champ!

I hope Christie works for you, as she has a big backlist you can easily work your way through πŸ™‚

That opening gif was something else. That mask is quite intimidating. Makes me want to poke his eyes out! πŸ˜€

    1. πŸ˜€ I’m obsessed with that wrestler at the moment – am actually trying to sneak pics or gifs of him in whenever it fits! It’s the new Tanahashi!

I’m done with the Christie now.. it was….alright. I don’t like the detective, he’s such a smartass πŸ˜€

      1. Yep, Poirot is a complete ass. I stopped reading any books with him in it as he pissed me off mightily.
If you feel like giving Christie a second chance, I’d highly recommend either “And Then There Were None” or “Endless Night”. Then you can see if her writing style is for you or not without an annoying character to ruin it all πŸ˜€

I’m sure Hairyhashi is heart broken at being tossed aside for another wrestler. That’s showbiz I guess! πŸ˜‰

  2. I love Scalzi, and I’ve read all of his novels except The Collapsing Empire books — I need to get on that right away! (Or, you know, at some point this year…) The Old Man’s War series is really good, and his stand-alones are terrific too. The Android’s Dream is just so silly, and I loved it. Enjoy!
