AUTHOR YOU’VE READ THE MOST BOOKS BY

Without looking it up, I’m pretty sure it’s Terry Pratchett, Stephen King & Robin Hobb. With Brandon Sanderson coming closer!

BEST SEQUEL EVER

year of the flood

That’s a hard question! I take it as ‘which second book in a series did I like more than the first book’ Definitely The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood! I was only half sold on Oryx & Crake and almost didn’t pick up the 2nd volume. I did though and am glad! I loved the 2 new perspectives and the story was much more engaging. I also finished book 3 shortly after and count the trilogy among my favourites.

CURRENTLY READING

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan and I just passed the middle point, yes!!

DRINK OF CHOICE WHILE READING

IMG20191009124519

Coffee if it’s before 3pm. Any kind. I love my coffee! After that, it’s tea or red wine in the evenings sometimes.

E-READER OR PHYSICAL BOOK?

Look, that changes constantly. I can’t do without my Kindle and I also can’t do without my pretty physical copy. So I will not pick a side, I love them both the same!

FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE DATED IN SCHOOL

Oh jeez, I have no idea! I didn’t date anyone when I was still in school πŸ˜€ Definitely not anything serious! I want to think I’d have dated Fitz (Robin Hobb’s Farseer Series) cause I love animals and he does too.

Also, I would have liked to date Kaladin (Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive), cause he’s a badass. I would have tried hard to cheer him up^^

GLAD YOU GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE

final-empire

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I was done with him after I couldn’t stand Elantris. I never wanted to pick up another novel by him. BEST decision ever, cause it turned out Elantris was the ONE miss and I absolutely adore everything else, especially Stormlight!!

HIDDEN GEM

immortal

Anything by Jennifer Fallon! She’s one of my favourite authors and I hardly see anyone mention her. Her Fantasy novels are all amazing, innovative, witty and have the best characters!

IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR READING LIFE

lightning

Um. Probably the day when my mom came home with that random Fantasy book, instead of a boarding school or horse novel, cause I read all the ones they had at the shops. The book was Lightning’s Daughter by Mary H. Herbert. A second part of a series. I read it and was blown away. It was the book that opened up the Fantasy genre for me and I will forever love it!

JUST FINISHED

starsight

Starsight by Brandon Sanderson. Loved it a lot, but not as much as book 1, which was my highlight of 2018 though. I HATED the ending, WTF WAS THAT HUH

KINDS OF BOOKS YOU WON’T READ

Most YA and Romance books, ESPECIALLY Highlander neck-biter Romances, cause I just can’t take the covers seriously..

LONGEST BOOK YOU’VE READ

DustofDreams_cover

Goodreads tells me it’s Dust of Dreams by Steven Erikson with 1280 pages, followed by Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson with 1248 pages.

Damn. Was DoD really that long?! I hardly remember…

MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER

Um. I don’t remember a particular one, but they mostly happen after I finish a great series or a really great long book. I need a while to focus on other things again.

NUMBER OF BOOKCASES YOU OWN

Just 1 at the moment. I WILL have a little library one day though. Just need more space & more books. Not in our current house though.

ONE BOOK YOU’VE REREAD LOTS

die-kleine-hexe-072588393

The Little Witch by Otfried Preussler. A cute children’s book I read probably close to 50 times when I was small. I want to reread it again at some point!

PREFERRED PLACE TO READ

The couch or outside on the verandah. I don’t really read in bed anymore. Haven’t done since we moved in the start of 2019.

QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU/GIVES YOU ALL THE FEELS FROM A BOOK YOU’VE READ

ALL THE FEELS:

Beloved. He could not say the word, but I knew it. So did his Fool. (Assassin’s Fate by Robin Hobb)

Honour is dead. But I’ll see what I can do. (Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson)

He came one late, wet spring, and brought the wide world back to my doorstep. (Fool’s Errand by Robin Hobb)

READING REGRET

I don’t really have any. Maybe only sticking with bad books for way too long in the past. Or not picking up certain books earlier.

SERIES YOU STARTED AND NEED TO FINISH (ALL BOOKS ARE OUT)

There’s 8 ones in total I still have to finish. Counting only the ones that aren’t ongoing anymore. The biggest one is The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and then there’s also a couple of trilogies like His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman or Gods of Blood and Powder by Brian McClellan I’m almost done with.

THREE ALL-TIME FAVOURITE BOOKS

Let’s go with 3 brilliant books I don’t think I’ve named as often.

Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb, Medalon by Jennifer Fallon and The Stand by Stephen King.

UNAPOLOGETIC FANGIRL FOR

Pro Wrestling (mainly Japanese, lucha libre and AEW)

GET ON THE HYPE TRAIN, WE’RE LEAVING THE STATION!

WORST BOOKISH HABIT

Probably reading very slowly at the moment. So all of those lovely books have to wait longer. Can’t thing of anything else.

  1. Yep, DoD was about 371K words. I think a bunch gets cut out though because Oathbringer is listed as 450K words (can you believe that, almost half a MILLION words for ONE book?!?!?!).

And DoD dragged for every one of those 317K words πŸ˜‰

  2. Jennifer Fallon is an author I think I’ve heard of but never read. Now I need to go look up her stuff. Any particular place you’d recommend starting?

Also, I did the same thing with Sanderson. I read Steelheart and didn’t like it, so I was determined I wouldn’t read anything else of his. Then I read Legion to give him a second try, and I loved it! So now I’m all in.

  3. Oh! Do you like wrestling??! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰
This was awesome! I loved all your answers. And have scribbled down Jennifer Fallon – I’m off to find out more! πŸ™‚
