I had a look at my seasonal reading plans and collected the titles I planned to read but actually didn’t. Also notes on whether I’m still interested.
Rosemary & Rue / Seanan McGuire –> I’ve recently read a sample and did not like it. OFF the list again.
Down among the Sticks and Bones / Seanan McGuire –> Will listen to the audio book soon!
Indexing / Seanan McGuire –> As much as I want to read more McGuire, at the moment I am not feeling like urban Fantasy. I think I will like this. But it’s not the right time.
Veins of Gold / Charlie N. Holmberg –> It’s not priority anymore. The last book by the author was only average and I’m taking a little break.
The Summer Dragon / Todd Lockwood –> I’m actually really curious but for some reason I can’t get the ebook for my kindle and I did not want to order the hardcover, as it’s way too expensive. Gotta check if the paperback is available now.
Swamplandia! / Karen Russell –> This just got lost. I loved the sample but never went back for it. I should just buy it, because I will definitely read it.
The Thousand Names / Django Wexler –> I kinda knew it wasn’t going to happen in 2018. But now that I’m done with McClellan (for now) I need more flintlock Fantasy!
Wrath of Empire / Brian McClellan –> Finished it early 2019 and LOVED it π
I loved Swamplandia! Hope you get to read itπ

Great list! Ugh that happens to me a lot, too; I go looking for an ebook and it’s not available in the UK for whatever reason and I can’t afford the hardback. Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy what you read of Rosemary and Rue! When you’re not in the mood for urban fantasy, though, there’s no point in forcing yourself to read the genre.

I love Indexing, but agree that it requires the Urban Fantasy mood. If you’re not feeling Urban Fantasy right now, then it’s not the time to read that one.

I’ve read all the Seanan McGuire on your list, and loved them all! Sorry that Rosemary & Rue didn’t appeal — but maybe wait a bit and try again? I ended up devouring the entire series (published so far) last year, and it’s now one of my very favorite fictional worlds with my favorite characters, but the story didn’t really kick into high gear until book #3.
