Goals & resolutions 2019

I don’t think I do too well with resolutions & goals, but I enjoy setting them anyways!

So here are my (mostly) bookish New Year’s resolutions:

Read 35 books

My goal for last year was 40 and I was on track for most of the year. Until the end where life got busy. I don’t want to set my goals too high this year. 35 should be reasonable! And I’m including audio books here as well.

Listen to 8 audio books

Out of those 35, some should be audio books. I want to take part in an audio book challenge as well, so hopefully this will motivate me.

Read at least 50 pages a day

More than on track for this. Reading relaxes me and I always have time to sneak it in, even on a busy work day!

Start a Robin Hobb ReRead

Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. I just have to hunt down MY copy of Assassin’s Apprentice. I will probably start rereading in the second half of the year.

Post at least 3 times a week

I didn’t like being inactive for so long in the end of the year. I need my blog, it’s part of my social life and my hobby. Not keeping it updated made me feel weird. I will make sure that I manage my time better this year. I’m already feeling much better now that I’m spending more time blogging again.

Non-bookish resolutions

Watch more non-NJPW wrestling

NJPW is my favourite promotion, but I also really love ‘DDT Pro Wrestling’ and am super excited to see what ‘All Elite Wrestling’ is going to look like. I also want to follow some specific wrestlers who are doing multiple promotions and who grew on me last year, like Pentagon Jr, WALTER, Jimmy Havoc, Bandido or Robbie Eagles. I saw them all live last year, apart from Penta. Hopefully I will see him as well one day!

Grow all the things

Like everything I can. I want to have multiple fruit trees, all the berries, all the veg, hazelnuts, truffles, soybeans, grapes… I want to become the best gardener!

Raise all the animals

We will probably start with that in late 2019. My 2 chickens need some siblings. Like about 8 or so. Maybe ducks as well. Probably ducks. Alpaca babies are very high on the list, I’m already in touch with a breeder. The doggo companion will move in as well. I’ll just start a petting zoo.

Document it all in the form of a vlog

This is going to be an interesting experience.. I’d like to share more of my life with my friends & family back in Germany and this is such an easy way to do it. My parents would absolutely love it and I feel like I should give it a try. Even though I will probably start out pretty awkward…^^

No more Take Away food /Β  eat healthy / get fitter

We’ve been pretty bad for a while, but we live in Pizza-town. I kid you not, there’s probably 10 pizza places in walking distance and don’t get me started on Fish n Chips, Thai, Indian, Maccas, KFC, the 2(!) Hungry Jack’s etc…. But our new place is in the middle of the bush and no place will deliver there, I’ve already checked πŸ˜‰ I don’t want to lose any weight, only the 2-3 kilos I put on over Christmas πŸ˜€ But getting in better shape & fitter wouldn’t be too bad. You can always improve! My new lifestyle will make it pretty easy though I hope.

  1. Posting 3 times a week AND vlogging? Good luck with THAT! However, should you start vlogging, you should blog about it, hahahaa. I’d actually be interested in how you find the whole experience, going from the written word to video. Ups, downs, unexpected things, issues you never suspected, that kind of thing.

Encouragement on the book goal. At least this year you don’t have a malazan buddy read to bring you into the pit of despair πŸ˜‰

    1. Well. that vlogging thing.. I’m having second thoughts. Maybe it’ll just be some small videos I send to my family. I am not sure at all^^ But I will keep everyone updated if something happens!

Haha, I will stay away from the Malazan books – at least for now. Maybe I will be tempted to continue my Reread at some point.. But that’s in the very distant future^^

      1. I’ve got the final book of the Malazan series to finish and I’ve been putting it off for months. I suspect I’ll just have to bite the bullet and get it over with in February. Something to look forward to I guess πŸ˜‰

  2. We have some very similar goals! I’m starting an inner-city smallholding this year, growing all the things and trying to work towards some version of self-sufficiency! And I need to try and post 3 times a week… Like, I’m always around… I read other blogs, and stuff. But I don’t necessarily have a post more than a couple times a week πŸ™‚

      1. I live in London… we have a garden which is about half an acre, so it’s a start! Though how much of that will be usable… We’re going to start with small scale crop rotation, enough to eat but not enough to sell. And then when we move, this year sometime, we’ll be looking for more space and we can get chickens! I’ve seen some rescued chickens haha… where are you based? Are you doing it on a larger scale?

      2. Half an acre in London sounds massive – I’d love to hear how you go πŸ™‚ Chickens are great – once you have them you can’t do without anymore, fresh eggs are so much better πŸ™‚ where are you looking to move?

We have 6.5 acres in Victoria, Australia. Around an hour from Melbourne. Moving in in the start of Feb & it’s gonna be exciting!

We’ve been growing a lot of fruit & veg in our garden already, but don’t have lots of space on our old property. I really can’t wait 😊

      3. It’s super tiny compared to your space, and pretty much everyone else’s… haha but it’ll be a good start. We’re hoping to move out of London, but in a commutable distance. So we’re still looking. That’s so exciting about your move! You must have huge plans for what you’re going to grow!
