October 2018

Oh, what a bad reading month! I only managed to finish one book.

Oathbringer / Brandon Sanderson –> finished! Finally, the brick is defeated 😉 I liked it. I thought it was pretty good. But not great. Definitely the weakest of the 3 so far. The ending was amazing though & so epic. I am really looking forward to book 4. When was it due? 2022?

The Traitor Baru Cormorant / Seth Dickinson –> 37%. Love it! Even though it’s VERY political & complicated. It doesn’t matter though. This story is tense & I’m scared something really bad is going to happen any second.

Wrath of Empire / Brian McClellan –> 31/639. I’m just at the start here but almost sure I’ll love it again.

Unfortunately there was one DNF last month as well. I did not like Salt Magic, Skin Magic by Lee Welch at all. Read about it here.

This month I want to tackle Skyward by Brandon Sanderson as well as The Monster Baru Cormorant, if the first book stays this great. It was just published yesterday!

Both covers are awesome! Especially the Dickinson one. So creepy!

I’m loving my life at the moment. I think I found a good balance^^ Work is fun right now, even though we’re getting busier. But Christmas Time is my favourite time, if you can avoid the shopping rush so I will enjoy it! I might decorate soon already as well.

I still enjoy playing ‘Breath of the Wild’, even though I’m not even halfway done with it. I get distracted by side quests, I can’t stand having them NOT done haha. I love, love, LOVE my wrestling – NJPW is still brilliant and DDT so much fun! At the end of the month we are going to 2 life shows in Melbourne and I can’t wait!

I won’t wrap this post up with a Tanahashi pic this time, sorry everyone! Even though there’s some really awesome new ones around… But here, to prepare you for Christmas Time, have my rabbits:

That was back in 2015, when they were still so little ❤

  1. Oh, be sure, lots of bad things will be happening in “The Traitor…”. Personally I wasn’t convinced by this book, and especially the ending. I love complicated political stuff, but I believe author had more ambitions than skill. His worldbuilding is especially disappointing, both superficial and anachronic… blurbs compare him to Herbert and Le Guin, and I find that insulting, Dickinson definitely read them both, and used a simplified version of some of their tropes, but not very successfully, at least in my view 😉

  2. Oh my god, your rabbits are so cute! Also, I agree…the cover for The Monster Baru Cormorant is horrifically unnerving and creepy 😛 I think if I read that I’d have to keep it face down every time I wasn’t reading it 😛
Pleased things are going so well for you!
