September 2018

Here we go, I’m back on track!

Apart from being sick for way too long, I’ve had a good month. We went on a holiday to Port Douglas, I was off work for 2 weeks and I enjoyed my reading!

Here’s what I read this month:

Spinning Silver / Naomi Novik –> finished! Review. Disappointing. I was expecting much more and even though I liked the concept & the start was promising, I could never warm up to most of the characters. Lots of unnecessary povs and information.

Saga Vol. 6 / Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples –> finished! I didn’t want to buy it… But well.. you know how it goes. I enjoyed this volume again but seriously, what the hell happened to The Will?! 😀 I might continue sooner than later, because I really want to know how Hazel’s story continues.

The Outsider / Stephen King –> finished! So. Good. I am writing a review right now. Such a great supernatural thriller, I am impressed! Especially since THE ENDING DIDN’T SUCK!!!

Black Wolves / Kate Elliott –> finished! Oh my, I will need to spend a lot of time reviewing this because this was so big and I have a lot of feelings about it. I liked it, mostly. But. Some things. This book definitely had a lot of everything. Wait for my review.

Oathbringer / Brandon Sanderson –> 485/1243. Aaaand I’m hooked! Once I’m done blogging I will go straight back to it.

The Traitor Baru Cormorant / Seth Dickinson –> 25%. No progress here, but I am keen to continue. Will read it when I am done with Oathbringer.

Not bad for me! I am back to reading 2 books at the same time, which is what I wanted and both of those I am enjoying. Wrath of Empire is next in line but after that I am not sure yet. I am very interested in more Kate Elliott and as the second part of her Black Wolves series is not published yet, I might give her Spirit Gate a chance. More Saga is the plan as well. And I might reread The Name of the Wind by Pat Rothfuss.

As it’s Halloween soon, I might want to pick another King novel, but I decide that spontaneously.

The-Haunting-of-Hill-House

Is anyone looking forward to The Haunting of Hill House? Netflix is showing the series in 2 weeks and I am intrigued by the trailer and the great reviews it got. Mr. DZ is interested as well, so we will check it out once it’s there!

I’m still watching my Wrestling, of course. A lot is happening in Japan right now. It’s even more dramarama than normal and the next big event is on tomorrow. But the most important thing:

Tanahashi’s hair is still glorious! He was rocking the pineapple cut in the main event against Okada a couple of weeks ago. It is almost certain that Tanahashi will face the champ Kenny Omega for his title in January at Wrestle Kingdom (New Japan’s Wrestlemania) and I expect his hair to be even better. If it’s not shooting fireworks, I’ll be disappointed.

  1. Glad to see you’re back on the book wagon 😉

I really don’t have anything else to say, you know? Sanderson is Sanderson, glad you’re liking Elliott and that hair. Well, we both know where we each stand on that hair issue 😀
