Yayy, lists! We all love lists, don’t we? I had a look at my Winter TBR and it turned out that I read 3 of the books I named, dnf one and am currently reading 2. 2 others I’m not interested in anymore and another 2 I’ve put on my next TBR list:
Wrath of Empire / Brian McClellan
I almost feel bad because I haven’t read it yet. This book is high priority once I’m done with my challenge and finished most of the books I started. I am convinced I’ll love this book.
Guards! Guards! / Terry Pratchett
And the second book that was on my Winter TBR already. I am still keen on this Reread, just didn’t get to it. I haven’t finished a lot of books during the last months.
The Traitor Baru Cormorant / Seth Dickinson
I’ve started it and try to finish by the end of this week. If it stays as intriguing, that won’t be a problem.
Black Wolves / Kate Elliott
I’m a bit surprised that I like it so much. It’s a lot of rambling and a big cast of characters and not a lot is happening, but there’s some really cool world-building, the characters are all interesting and there’s some nice scheming & backstabbing going on. I like reading about court politics^^ It’s kind of a Downton Abbey/Soap Opera/Fantasy Epic? π That’s how I would describe it.
Indexing / Seanan McGuire
I planned to read ‘Down Among the Sticks and Bones’ next, but Nicole from Book-Wyrm-Knits mentioned this series and now I know it’s a kind of fairy tale retelling, I need to give it a try. Sample is already sitting on my Kindle.
The Summer Dragon / Todd Lockwood
Has been on my radar for a long time now. But for some reason it’s not available as an ebook and the book was too expensive, until now. Gotta put an order through on bookdepository soon.
Saga Vol. 6 / Brain K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
The only reason for not continuing just yet is that the novels are so damn expensive here… I am not ready to pay almost 30 bucks, thank you. I am going to order it in. Maybe with 7 & 8 as well.
Swamplandia! / Karen Russell
I’ve read the sample a long time ago and remember that I really liked it. No idea why I never picked it up after.. I just thought about it. Maybe now is the time!
The Thousand Names / Django Wexler
After ‘Wrath of Empire’ I want to try some Wexler! People like him.
Skyward / Brandon Sanderson
I am more interested in it than I was when it was announced. Very curious to read a space opera by Sanderson!
I keep forgetting you’re in the other hemisphere. I was all about to go rampage on you for talking about spring when we’re not even into Fall yet and then it dawned on me, “Oh yeah, she’s going into Spring dummy!”.
It’s a small world after all *sing it with me!*

Haha π I understand though. Sometimes I get all confused STILL. I’ve been living in Aus for 5 years now, but in my head it still says June, July & August are SUMMER months, dammit!^^

I see so many good books on this list! Wrath of Empire, The Thousand Names, Traitor Baru, Summer Dragon – all excellent books! I enjoyed Black Wolves too, but it was loooong. And I don’t know when the sequel might be coming out, it feels like I’ve been waiting forever and release date keeps getting pushed back. And I’m definitely going to make time for Skyward!

Damn, I should have checked that before I started – for some reason I assumed the sequel was already there π
But I am interested in some of her other books as well, so I might read them first.

Hope your re-read of Guards Guards is enjoyable. I am planning on doing a Discworld re-read in total some time.

I knew I’d find lots of fantasy here. I can’t wait for the newest volume of Saga which releases soon. I love that graphic novel series so much.

Indexing is so much fun (and there’s a sequel too). The concept is great, and I loved the way the modern world and the fairy tales intersect. Then again, Seanan McGuire is one of my favorite authors, so it’s no surprise that I loved these books. I keep wanting to dive into Discworld, and I never quite know where to start. One of these days… Anyway, great list! Enjoy your spring reading!

Seanan McGuire has so many books out there. A real treat if you like her writing π We are lucky π

Skyward sounds awesome. I love space opera and this one sounds way more appealing than his usual fantasy stuff.

I hope you enjoy Indexing! I really loved the way that whole world worked. Skyward does sound like an interesting book. Maybe I’ll read that one… I’ve been trying to find a Sanderson book that would be a good starting place (though I already read Steelheart and did NOT like it, others have told me that one was not a good example of his work so I’m starting over).

‘Steelheart’ wasn’t one of my faves either.. The whole trilogy to be honest. I only read it because Sanderson. If it was by another author I might not even have picked it up

Yeah, I don’t plan on finishing the series because I didn’t enjoy Steelheart. For a long time I planned to not read any more Sanderson because of Steelheart. I’ve changed my mind on that, though, but I’m not sure where to start now.

I really need to read some Kate Elliot. She is one of those authors that always just kind of flies under the radar but everyone knows. Good luck with this list!

Exactly. I’ve known about her for ages but never tried any of her books. Lately, I’ve been picking up some of the more popular/famous authors in the Fantasy genre I haven’t tried yet. Like Elizabeth Moon. Or Anne McCaffrey. It’s hit and miss though
