On my Radar #8

The last post in this category is a long time back, so of course there are new & interesting books I’ve come across ๐Ÿ™‚

Here they are:

The Poppy War / R. F. Kuang

poppy war

Got a lot of positive feedback lately and sounds pretty cool to me. It’s described as historical military Fantasy set in a world that is inspired by Chinese culture. It looks like it takes place in some kind of school as well, so that makes it even better. I am very excited to read it.

Between the Shade and the Shadow / Alexander Coleman

between shade

The cover got my attention first. It’s about sprites and how they become what they are. It follows the story of Ahraia the spriteling who bonds a wolf and that is the bond I LOVE to read about. Please don’t make me cry!!!

Priest of Bones / Peter McLean

priest of bones

The first book in a series called ‘ War for the Rose Throne’. It’s the story about an army priest who comes back from war and finds out that his crime empire is no longer his own but has been taken away from him. He’s trying to reclaim it together with his new gang and friends. One of them is called ‘Bloody Anne’. Sounds fun!

The Last Sun / K. D. Edwards

last sun

Part one of ‘The Tarot Sequence’. Sounds like crime Fantasy. And takes place in ‘New Atlantis’. huh? I haven’t had many good experiences with that in the past, but it can only get better! The main character is hired to look for a missing nobleman and uncovers all kinds of secrets & mysteries. Why not, sounds like fun & easy!

The Song of All / Tina LeCount Myers

song of all

Book one of ‘The Legacy of the Heavens’. Features a Scandinavian-inspired world and a badass warrior hunting immortals. Count me in.

Starless / Jacqueline Carey

starless

I am always intrigued by Jacqueline Carey novels ๐Ÿ™‚ This is a new series that introduces us to a young warrior who was trained to be the protector of the princess. It probably has lots of court life, intrigues, backstabbing and drama. I still have a couple more Carey books to read, but might pick this one first.

Do you guys know any of those books?

  1. I have not heard of a single one of these except for the Poppy War one. And BooksofBrian.com gave it the most grudging review I’ve read in a while. You could almost hear his jaw locking up as he tried to not say bad things about the book ๐Ÿ˜€
