Justice League Book Tag

I was tagged for this by Zezee with Books, thank you! And as I haven’t done a tag in a while, I definitely wanted to do it! πŸ™‚

The tag was created by The Book Cover Girl.

Here we go!

Batman: Your favourite antihero

Karsa Orlong from Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen grew on me, although he did some pretty horrific things. He runs through everyone on his way and doesn’t stop. Karsa only cares about Karsa and his favourite thing in the world is killing people. There are a lot more anti-heroes in this series, almost every character is flawed in some way.

Captain Kennit from the Liveship Traders trilogy by Robin Hobb is a good example as well. He is a master of manipulation and also only cares about himself. No surprise, as Robin Hobb is amazing at creating lively characters. Kennit is one of her best.

I always really liked Bronn and Sandor Clegane from A Song of Ice and Fire.Β They were my favourite minor characters from the books and I was happy to see them get so popular on the show as well.

Aquaman: A book or character that turned out to be better than you expected (because let’s be real, we did not expect Khal Drogo to make Aquaman cool)

the-wind-through-the-keyhole

First of all, I would never doubt the great Jason Momoa πŸ˜‰ He made me go to the cinema and watch that Conan movie, okay??

The Wind through the Keyhole by Stephen King is a good answer to that question. I read mostly negative reviews of Dark Tower fans who were expecting something different and did not like the book. I didn’t have high expectations, but enjoyed the story a lot. It had enough connections to the Dark Tower series to make me happy, but I loved the story that Roland tells even more. For me it was a hit! The book is also super pretty by the way.

Wonder Woman: Most badass female character (not necessarily in a physical sense)

Brienne of Tarth for sure! She could kick everyone’s ass and is a very different female character, which is a nice change! Also, obligatory Vin mention here πŸ˜‰ And I really do like R’Shiel from Jennifer Fallon’s Medalon trilogy. She’s a bit of a ruthless bitch but that makes her so interesting to me.

Cyborg: Favorite science fiction novel

ender

I haven’t read a lot of SciFi so far, but have a couple of novels on my list. It’s not really priority though, as I am having so much fun with my fantasy novels.

I did like Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card very much, that was an enjoyable read. I didn’t expect to like it so much. A big reason is probably the combat school, I love the school setting in general.

The Flash: A book you sped through

assassins-fate

All of the books from Robin Hobb’s latest Fitz and Fool Trilogy. I was trying to slow down and enjoy them for a while longer, but just couldn’t stop reading. I think I read one of them in 2-3 days, which is amazing for me.

Also, The Wise Man’s Fear by Pat Rothfuss. For such a big book I was done with it surprisingly fast. And I enjoyed every page, this book was awesome. I know lots of people were a bit ‘meh’ about it or thought it had boring parts. Not for me though.

Superman: Saddest character death (although we all know there’s no way Superman is going to stay dead)

fool's errand

Superman is dead, huh? I was never into Superman. Or even Batman. I only watched because I like Christian Bale. Not interested in any of the DC stuff.

Saddest death is always the one that happens in Fool’s Errand by Robin Hobb. CAN’T GET OVER IT!!!

Another death that made me cry happens in Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier. Beautiful book though!

  1. Thank you for not including those seizure inducing gifs that some of the other blogs used with this tag.

So you like Karsa enough to include him, huh? For me, he’s just more of a force of nature, like Icarium than an actual character. Makes me wonder how horrific the trilogy about him is going to be. I’m thinking whole regions destroyed by him and the others…

    1. I was thinking the same in the start! But then, we did get a lot more backstory on Karsa and he seemed a bit more fleshed out than Icarium. At least to me. And he’s not as angsty as Iccy boy, so that’s a plus πŸ˜‰

Ugh, loads of gifs always make the posts so hard to read! I’m not a fan of ‘gif-flooding’. I do not mind a couple, I mean I sometimes use them as well. But I try to keep it at no more than 2-3 per post. Mostly 1 is alright, with wrestling stuff I might use some more in the future.. We’ll see^^

      1. Gifs of big half naked hairy guys?
Wow, when you put it like that, how I can resist? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’m in the middle of Toll the Hounds and Karsa has a storyline. He’s definitely been written as a character while Icarium is indeed just a force.
But what I’m realizing is that I hate Erikson’s portrayal of the Tiste Andii and that is why I hated the first Kharkanas book so much and was put off from Erikson. I really don’t know if I’ll read a Karsa trilogy if it’s put out by Erikson alone.

      2. Haha, I will think of you when I am looking for a new wrestling gif πŸ˜€ btw, they are not that hairy actually! most of them even shave their legs πŸ˜€

I’m with you with the Tiste Andii. In the first book I thought they were this mysterious badass race…but then they were all so depressed. Not a fan.

I don’t think I will read the Kharkanas trilogy or Karsa trilogy anytime soon. It’s on the list but maybe I pick it up in 5 years or so πŸ˜‰

  2. Oh yes! Sandor Clegane is one of my favs too, and yea, I also liked Bronn.
Ugh, Kennit. I hated him so much and was so pissed that the other pirate characters love him. I really wanted something really horrible to happen to him because of what he did to Althea. Ugh! Hate him so much!
