I haven’t done a tag in a while and saw this one over at Annemieke’s blog A Dance with Books. Sounded cool, so I will answer the questions as well. Although it’s actually not spring here but autumn.
Look on your shelves. What is the most beautiful book both inside and out?
Those 3 are the prettiest books I own!
What is a book that you find others like way more than you do?
More than I thought actually. I think most people I know enjoyed The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie or Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. The first I didn’t even finish and the second I regret finishing, because there was absolutely nothing I liked about it.
What’s a great book that lifts your spirits when you’re down?
Probably a Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett. They always make me happy and don’t take themselves too seriously. easy to read as well.
What book made you feel alive?
Um, I kinda always feel alive. You know. If I wouldn’t, that would be a problem.
What book did you find unpredictable?
The Second Sons Trilogy by Jennifer Fallon. So clever and enjoyable with so many secrets & surprises. And although it’s described as a Fantasy/SciFi novel, the only thing that’s fictional in it is the world.
What was a book that you struggled with only to be happy that you read it in the end?
Red Seas over Red Skies by Scott Lynch. I actually put it aside for a couple of months after I couldn’t get into it. Picked it up again and it ended up my favourite of the series so far. Great book!
What’s a book that you couldn’t finish or didn’t enjoy?
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I didn’t get very far. Nothing really worked for me with this one. I still get nightmares from those horrible footnotes! Also more recently, Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones was a big disappointment, that I didn’t want to continue. It started out alright but turned into bullshit pretty quickly.
What book did you love and want more of?
Retribution by Jennifer Fallon. I want book 3 please!
What book have you not read yet but really want to?
Sins of Empire by Brian McClellan. I’m still reading The Autumn Republic, but once I am done, I am really keen to start the second trilogy straight away!
What book makes you feel safe when you read it?
Well, certainly NOT a Stephen King novel. Especially not Misery. Did I just turn this question around? I did!
What book puts a smile on your face?
Almost every good book I reread. Because I am almost sure I will like it and that makes me happy 🙂
