Top Ten Tuesday: Animes on my to watch-list

hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

It’s all about anime today! I got the crunchyroll app recently and there’s lots of interesting shows! Here’s what I like to check out.

Dragon Ball Super

I planned to rewatch all of DBZ before, but now I am just too curious, so this will be the show I will start with. I am already one episode in and yup, it’s great to be back!

Naruto Shippuden

I did watch Naruto and parts of Shippuden. I was pretty far, actually, but thought it would be one of those never-ending animes. And then it ended. Now I want to finish it. Not sure where I stopped, so I have to do some research and see where to pick up again.

Yuri on Ice

Everyone here seems to be hype for it and I decided to check it out. I like sports anime, so why not? I watched the first episode and love the style!

The Ancient Magus’ Bride

Someone blogged about the mangas and that got me curious about the story. I’d rather watch it than read and was happy to see that there actually is an adaptation for it.

Hajime no Ippo

Another very popular sports anime. I hear good things, I try it out.

Gin Tama

This is so long. But I like the style and it has samurai and aliens. Hell yeah!

Dark Fantasy. Seems pretty full on, but I am curious and will definitely give it a try.

I’ve wanted to try this for ages, seems right up my alley. Warriors, badass swords, demons, lots of action..

Do you know any of those? Any other animes you can recommend?

  1. Claymore was pretty violent, it s a battle between good and evil. Chicks with broadswords fighting demons if i remember correctly. I liked it. Thats about the only one i know. Naruto was like an advanced dragon ball z for me . I dont like dbz that much, couldnt understand the craze about it back in the day where naruto had a better storyline in general. Will be looking forward to your thoughts/reviews of the others i havent heard of.

  2. I kept hearing about Yuri on Ice last year and wondered what this thing was. I don’t think I’ll continue on with more Dragonball though I watched a lot of it when I was younger. I was the same with Shipuuden. I stranded somewhere and I have no idea where. Same with the manga really.

The only anime I am really watching is Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.

    1. Sometimes the series are just too damn long.. There’s about 500 Naruto Shippuden episodes, that’s crazy. I want to get back into it, but there’s a chance I’ll be bored after a while and too much repetition.

I’ve never watched Cardcaptor Sakura 😀 Need to look what it’s about

  3. DBS, Naruto Shippuden, Berserk, and Gintama are all on my watchlist too 🙂 It’ll probably be a while before I get to Dragon Ball Super, though because I’m waiting for the whole series to be released on DVD so I can binge watch it all without having to rely on an internet connection.

  4. So many good ones on this list! Recently I watched Code Geaas and it was the best anime I’ve ever watched. I’m still so blown away! So… I recommend that with my whole heart if you haven’t watched it already! ❤ xx

  5. Oooh, fun! I don’t know any of these. Here are some I do like, though:

    Humanity Has Declined

And also the original Death Note anime (not the live action versions). That one’s a bit long, though, and often rather dark. While Erased sometimes gets a little dark too, both Erased and Humanity Has Declined are a lot shorter.

      1. Death Note isn’t for everyone, it’s a bit darker than I thought I’d like (so I was pleasantly surprised when I did). The other two are slightly confusing before you figure out what’s going on, but the confusion doesn’t stay for long.

      2. Ah, that’s alright! I watched ‘The Wire’ and the first couple of episodes were just a big wtf is going on with too many characters 😀 And it turned out to be my favourite show! So I don’t mind if it’s weird at the start

      3. I’ve noticed that a lot of my favorite anime is weird at the start… some of it never stops being weird…

I also remember enjoying Paprika (I think it’s a movie and not a TV show) and Read Or Die when I first started watching anime. I don’t remember much about them now, just that I enjoyed them at the time.

  6. Great topic! I’ve been meaning to get back to finishing Yuri on Ice. The Ancient Magus’ Bride, I’ve never heard of, but I’ll definetly be checking it out. Thanks for the rec!

  7. Got to admit that I too had to stop watching Shippuden cause of the amount of filers they were giving us. I stopped right around the time Pain shows up and apparently that’s when things got really interesting hahahah I also sooo want to get back into the DB world and check out Super. It looks like a lot of fun!!! Nice list! 😀
