February 2018

Not such a good month. Lots of work, a reading slump and not enough rain for our poor vegie garden! By the time this post will be online, I am hopefully having a great time on my holiday, so it ends on a good note!

What I read

Saga Vol. 3 / Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples –> finished! My Review. Awesome!

Saga Vol. 4 / Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples –> finished! Not as good as the previous volumes, but the ending was great again. I will read on.

The Girl in the Tower / Katherine Arden –> finished! Pretty good again, although the setting wasn’t as magical as it was in book 1. I liked how it ended and am looking forward to the last part of the trilogy.

Oathbringer / Brandon Sanderson –> 350/1233. Picking up, even Shallan rocks! Kaladin is still trying to save everyone. I am enjoying it!

The Crimson Campaign / Brian McClellan –> 7% in. Only just started and I am not very far. I will probably read a lot of it on my holiday.

Good news is – I did not start any new series this month, yeah! Only reading sequels, really proud of myself. Which means I can start something new next month!

What I want to read in March

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones and I want to reread Pratchett’s Wyrd Sisters. I’ve been feeling like it lately. I am also looking at Searching for Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede. I suppose reading Oathbringer makes me want to read some shorter novels soon.

What I am watching

OLYMPICS! I love the Winter Olympics and could watch it all day. We are kinda lucky in Australia as well, as it’s on TV during the day and in the evening until midnight. No weird times for us! Germany is doing pretty good as well, only Norway is doing better at the moment.

I mostly enjoyed all Snowboarding competitions, Biathlon, Figure/Speed Skating and Ski Jumping. But I really watch everything apart from Ice Hockey.

It has been a pretty hot month – as usual. February is always the hottest! But it doesn’t look like it will cool down anytime soon.

Our chickens are enjoying the sun and I am happy to harvest tomatoes every day!

Last weekend we went to a Wrestling event in the city and stayed the night. We watched New Japan Pro Wrestling and let me tell you – it was AMAZING!!! Those guys are super entertaining and great to watch! The atmosphere was awesome as well, everyone was really into it! I have to admit, that I only recently got into NJPW and don’t know every Wrestler or storyline yet, but I am so into it now!

My highlight was of course watching Kenny Omega live. He’s been one of my favourites for a while now. It was also great to see Cody – loving his new look and his heel persona. WWE really did not use him right.. Other wrestlers that got my attention after this event are Lance Archer and Tama Tonga. I hope they come back to Down Under next year!

That was our view – getting better seats next time ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Did you bring binoculars to see the stage? It looks VERY far away.

And I feel your pain about slumpy months. Not in a reading slump myself (obviously) but life in general. Maybe we could be Slumpy Buddies or something else just as silly.

Hope your holiday goes fantastic ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Heya Mr. Bookstooge! It wasn’t actually THAT bad ๐Ÿ˜€ Doesn’t help, that the ring they used was much smaller than a normal WWE one haha.

I am out of my slump again this time! Thanks to Pratchett ๐Ÿ˜€ But yeah, slumpy buddies anytime^^

      1. It might not have been that bad, but then wheres the fun in not making use of hyperbole? I want my comments to have some zip, some zing, some of that baddabang, baddaboom, you know? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glad to hear you’re out of the slump. Those things can be brutal sometimes…

  2. Nothing worse than a reading slump although youโ€™ve still got on really well. I must start Oathbringer. Itโ€™s just such a huge book that I find it a bit daunting although I know Iโ€™ll probably love it.

  3. I’m moving through Oathbringer soooo slow. Not because it hasn’t grabbed me (although it hasn’t quite), but rather because I’m reading SO many books at once. Until I finished one earlier today, I was reading eight books at once. I need to whittle that down.

  4. I very much love the winter olympics! I’m always watching biathlon, cross country skiing, snowboard cross, skicross, parallel snowboard and skiing events, slopestyle, speed skatingbig air, moguls, skeleton…pretty much everything except figure skating, ice hockey and curling!

  5. Aaah though it wasn’t a great month you still did a lot of fun things! Go you for only picking up sequels. I need to do that too haha. I’ve been picking up too many first books of series when I still have so many to finish. I really want to read Wintersong next month too though.
