Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals & Resolutions

Read 40 books

I read the exact number of books last year. I already feel I could have gone higher, but I don’t want to be under pressure. 40 is a number I am happy with, and if it’s more, it’s even better!

I am also including audiobooks here.

Read more sequels than first parts

Because I am reading so many cool series, but am often more tempted to pick up another first book, than to actually continue. It’s exciting to jump into a new world. But just as exciting to go back to a series I loved, and this is what I will be doing more often this year. I have a couple trilogies I’d like to finish.

I finished a sequel and a sixth part this month already. Let’s not talk about the 2 first ones I am reading at the moment πŸ˜‰

End the year with 5 or less books TBR

Just like last year, so I can start the new year fresh with lots of new books!

Write a review for every book I finish (even Re-Reads)

I sometimes don’t have a lot to say, but even then, I feel like I should at least talk a bit about whether it’s worth reading or not. I still have 3 reviews to publish this month, but will do so soon. I don’t want to let them pile up and forget about them.

Write more movie reviews

And watch more movies… We’ve been watching too much Wrestling, TV shows and sports! I have a list of movies I want to watch soon and I will review them all as well.

Write more posts about travelling

Because travelling is something I love and I have lots of pretty pictures to show and stories to tell. I got the impression, that most of you liked my last travel post, so I will do a couple of those πŸ™‚ Maybe I tell you about the time Mr. DZ and I got kicked off the ‘Game of Thrones’-set in Belfast?

Don’t stick with bad books

If I don’t like a book after 15-20%, just dnf. If it’s not good then, it probably won’t get better after. I won’t force myself to read books I don’t enjoy.

Finish more audiobooks

More than last year. Which will be easy, as I finished exactly zero πŸ˜€

Maybe write more about Wrestling

I am still figuring out what to do there. It’s something I love just as much as reading and I want to share it πŸ˜€ Not sure if I want to do reviews, lists, or a different topic every week.. Or whether I end up doing it at all!

Add ratings to my old reviews

Something I should start doing soon, but probably slowly

Continue my Books I love – series

Maybe pick one day a week for it. It was easier writing about the books I didn’t like for some reason^^

  1. I really relate to being a series starter, but not getting further into the books- that happens to me a lot. And I’d really like to see your movie reviews πŸ˜€ Wait- you got kicked off the GOT set in Belfast?! what happened there? Also now I really want to know more about your travel adventures! You’re totally right about DNFing- I need to do that more.

  2. Back-rating old reviews. Man, that is a journey fraught with danger! I pretty much let all of my 2000-2002 reviews go without as I didn’t start actual 5star ratings until 2007. But best of luck! Maybe you’ll come across some stinkers you can amuse us with πŸ™‚

And “encouragement” with more reviews! πŸ˜‰
    Any kind of reviews actually…

    1. Thank you! I know, I keep avoiding it πŸ˜€ But I feel I need to do it. Especially since I don’t have that many reviews online just yet.

I am actually really motivated to review more now, but now I am not finishing books quick enough haha!

  3. Rating books – I’m just no good at it and the thought of going back and reviewing books I’ve read scares me! Good luck to you though.
I like the idea of rereads but never seem to find the time. I think it would be good to go back to some early reads and compare how I feel about them now to then and see if they’ve stood the test of time.

  4. Last year was the year I stopped feeling guilty about DNFing books and just let myself do it if I wasn’t enjoying them. Life is too short, and there are too many amazing books to read to waste time on ones that aren’t right for us. Also – I really want to keep up to date with my Goodreads reviews too, but that like…never happens…so…we’ll see. Here is my TTT if you fancy a read..

    1. You are so right! No more bad books for us πŸ˜€
I once planned to put my reviews on goodreads as well.. But I just don’t like the site that much, not a fan of the format. I use it more as an archive and to keep track of what I am reading πŸ™‚ It’s perfect for that!

  5. I need to learn to DNF too. Usually, when I’m reading something that I don’t care for, I drag the process on and on, letting my reading time dwindle to a few minutes a day because I just have no motivation to read. I’d also say that I need to be more diligent about reading a fair bit into a new book right after I finish an old one — sometimes, especially when I read something I don’t really like, I’ll lose my motivation to read anything else, and weeks or even months will pass before I pick up another book. 2018 is the year we say NO to bad books ruining our days!

    1. Aw. yes, that’s no good! When I had books like that and felt a reading slump coming, I went back to books I loved. Rereads helped so much there, cause you know you are going to enjoy the book again πŸ™‚

  6. I have write more book reviews and add ratings to old reviews as goals for this year, too! I need to write new reviews for re-reads, too. I usually get lazy, even though sometimes my opinions on the books have changed. Great goals!
