No books & reading today – today I am going to tell you a bit about my Road Trip to the Mornington Peninsula, which you can find in the south of Victoria, here:
I drove down there with my friend Anna, who celebrated her birthday last Monday, so it was also kinda her present. We stayed for 2 nights and had a fun time! The drive was only a bit longer than an hour and pretty relaxed. Everything was really close to our hotel as well, so we never had to drive really far without seeing anything interesting.
On our way to the hotel we checked out Cape Schanck, including the lighthouse and awesome views of the ocean!
We went to the Peninsula Hot Springs on our first day, and it was amazing! They had so many different pools and saunas and a pool at the top with fantastic views!
You can see part of the pool on the right pic – we didn’t want to take photos of random strangers 😀 It was very hard to get a spot in there as well, because it was very popular! There were many other pools to choose from, and even though it was busy, it never felt too full.
I would love to go back there in autumn/winter though, when it is really cold outside. Most of the pools were around 34-38 degrees warm. Fortunately it was a warm, but not super hot day. And they did have cold plunge pools as well.
We had dinner at the hotel on our first night. We were too lazy to go out and it was a nice spot with lovely views as well. Unfortunately it wasn’t very good service. We had to wait 40 minutes for our food and it wasn’t busy at all. They all seemed a little slow and flustered. I don’t know what was going on. My dinner was okay though, most of it was yummy, I would have preferred to have more cheese though. You can never have too much cheese^^
I had this charcuterie plate, that features local produce. I always like to try one of those when I am on holiday somewhere, because they mostly want to show off & they are always yummy. This was not as good as others I had, but still very tasty.
We decided to have breakfast in a nice cafe the other morning and found one not far away. It was really neat and sold lots of local produce, clothes, furniture etc as well. I had a sweet breakfast, something I normally don’t have. I am an eggs & bacon person ;D
So my brekkie was a waffle with baked banana, honeyed popcorn, salted caramel sauce and greek yogurt! Sweetness overload! It was very tasty, but VERY sweet! I couldn’t eat all of the popcorn 😀
We went to have a look at some of the beaches after that.
It was a bit rainy & dark when we arrived in Sorrento so we had a walk through the village first and got an iced drink until we decided to ignore it all and sit on the beach anyways 😉
It got very busy in Sorrento pretty soon, so we decided to move on.
We got very lucky, as the weather got much better & sunny and we found an awesome beach in Rye. The water was warm and it was perfect for walks along the beach! It also was pretty quiet.
People loved my pants btw. I got SO many compliments 😀 They are super comfy though, a friend got them for me from Malaysia. They are skirt-pants and feel like you are wearing nothing at all, haha!
This beach was definitely my favourite one and I already plan to go back there. It wasn’t very wavy, but I don’t mind that. It also wasn’t too windy, which I was very happy with as well!
We were also able to watch the sunset from our hotel room – very nice place 🙂
I definitely want to do more little trips this year!
