The Christmas Tag

Found this tag on Destiny’s blog Howling Libraries, like so many good tags in the past πŸ˜‰

What is your favorite Christmas movie?

So many!! I did an extra post on this here.

But if I had to pick 3, it would probably be those ones

What is your favorite Christmas song?

Eeeh, here is 3 of them

Wham! – Last Christmas

Brenda Lee – Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

Rolf Zuckowski – Dezembertraeume (German Song)

I do like most Christmas songs though!

Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

In Germany we always did it on the 24th in the evening. That was our main Christmas and it was only spent with very close family (My parents, my brother & I, sometimes my nanna). On the 25th we visited my Dad’s side of the family and the 26th my mom’s.

Now in Australia we do it differently every year. The big day is the 25th, but I am mostly working and I am not doing the present thing anymore anyways. I am getting one present for whomever I picked at Kris Kringle and that’s it. Mr. DZ and I, we decided we won’t get presents for each other anymore.

What is your favorite Christmas scent?

Cinnamon. Nothing better than Cinnamon πŸ™‚ Maybe cinnamon cookies baking πŸ˜‰

What tops your tree?

A shitty star that’s always falling off. I didn’t put too much effort into decorating my tiny plastic tree πŸ˜€

Is your tree fake or real?

Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?

When I was little it was tradition at my primary school, so yesss.

White or colored lights?

Eggnog or hot chocolate?

That is so hard! I love both..

Are you a β€˜Buddy the Elf’ or an β€˜Ebenezer Scrooge’?

I think I am a mix. I like Christmas & the food, songs, decorations but I hate the shopping & present craze. I liked Christmas Time in Germany much more than in Australia. I miss Christmas Markets, the cold and the cozy evenings at home. It’s still hectic, but overall it’s a bit less focused on buying expensive crap. I can’t believe how MUCH people give each other here.

When do you put up your tree/decorations?

Middle of November.

If you could travel anywhere for the holiday season, where would it be?

Probably Germany, to be with my friends & family and hopefully show Mr. DZ how different Christmas can be.

I also wouldn’t mind just ignoring it and going to the Caribbean for example.

Do you make New Years’ resolutions?

A little! But it’s nothing big, really. I set myself a couple of small goals, for example about how many books I’d like to read, how much money I’d like to save up and things like that!

  1. What, no Diehard for Christmas movie?

My family grew up opening one gift on Christmas eve then the whole shebang on Christmas. Mrs B grew up with a mother who was a nurse but did get Christmas off, so they opened up everything on Christmas Eve so Mom could sleep in on Christmas. With no kids and not being near alot of family, we kind of take it year by year now…

    1. Die hard is in my top 10 πŸ˜€ just not my top 3.

You know, i love my family, but my perfect christmas would just be Mr. DZ and me together. Just relaxing, eating some good food & watching one or 2 christmas movies (maybe die hard πŸ˜€ )

  2. Christmas scent – I love Cinnamon but orange with gloves too. πŸ™‚
I have a real tree and it’s decorated since the 2nd Advent. And I open the christmas presents on Christmas Eve.

“In Germany we always did it on the 24th in the evening. That was our main Christmas and it was only spent with very close family (My parents, my brother & I, sometimes my nanna).”
Yes! Only my parents, my sister and I were waiting – playing cards or something else – for my brother and his family to come back from the (afternoon) Christmas Mass. Then Dinner followed and then the unwrapping of the gifts. πŸ™‚
