Top Ten Tuesday: Books I hope Santa brings

hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

I am a bit late this week! Here’s books I like to have, some of them were already on my Summer to-read list.

Written in Red. The Others 1 /  Anne Bishop – I read a sample of this and liked it a lot. Also, the reviews have been very positive. My best friend loved it. So I want to try it as well. I will probably get the Kindle version.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince / Joanne K. Rowling – I need the pretty Hardcover version, then I am almost done collecting. The books look amazing on the shelf.

A Darker Shade of Magic / V. E. Schwab – Not decided yet whether I want the book or ebook. I see how pretty the book version is and maybe get it. If it’s affordable.

The Bear and the Nightingale / Katherine Arden – Normally I stay away from overhyped books.. But this one sounded magical and I love stories influenced by Russian myths and culture. I tried a sample and really liked where this is going. Will probably get the ebook.

Northern Lights. His Dark Materials / Philip Pullman – I decided that I want to give this trilogy another try. I started it over 10 years ago and didn’t like it, but so much time has passed and also my reading habits changed. I think I might enjoy it this time. Not sure yet whether book or ebook – If I find a nice version in the shop I will probably buy it.

Every Heart a Doorway / Seanan McGuire – To see what all the hype is about. I hope I like it, McGuire wrote so much, there will be a lot to pick from then.

Searching for Dragons. Enchanted Forest Chronicles 2 / Patricia C. Wrede –  After I enjoyed the first one so much, I want to see how part 2 is doing. I will probably sneak this in after I finished a big book. I stick to the Kindle versions here.

The Summer Dragon / Todd Lockwood –  I want the book but can’t find it anywhere.

The Crimson Campaign. The Powder Mage Trilogy 2 / Brian McClellan – On top of my hype list, I should have it already! I want the ebook.

Dragonflight. Dragonriders of Pern / Anne McCaffrey – I read a sample for this one recently and want to try the first book.

  1. I recommend the Crimson Campaign in hardcover – that’s one great looking book 🙂 And it’s definitely worth the money 😉
I see A Darker Shade of Magic on a lot of wishlists these days – thanks for the reminder, I might finally give it a try.

  2. Oh great list. Obviously I am shouting at you about Written in Red and Adsom. But especially written in red.

I read Northern Lights a few years ago and thought it was okay but disliked the other two immensely haha.

  3. That’s an awesome Harry Potter cover — I haven’t seen that one before! I love the Philip Pullman books, and loved Every Heart a Doorway so much! So many great books here — I hope you find at least a few under your tree!

  4. Oh I hope you get all of these! I’ve heard really good things about Written in Red. And HP is really pretty in hardback 😀 Darker Shade of magic is great! And I *loved* Bear and the Nightingale- really hope you do too! And I really love Northern Lights- I hope it’s better for you this time round! (although I know a lot of people find it hard to get into, especially cos the first chapter is admittedly slow- but it got so good for me after that)
