End of the Year Challenge: Update #1

My Challenge

I’m doing okay so far. Haven’t bought any books and finished 1. If I take back the Rereads, I’d only have 3 and a half books to go, but I’m no going to make it easy and I really feel like Harry Potter right now. Didn’t remember the 5th being 800 pages long, it looks like a brick! And I am starting to get annoyed at Harry. This is the book where puberty hits πŸ˜€ Angry, angsty, drama-queen-Harry is my least favourite Harry! I stopped liking him in this book, but fortunately there are other more likeable characters around, especially Luna Lovegood!

I only read a little of Swan Song, although I still like it, and it’s starting to pick up again after all the explosions & destruction. It’s pretty gory & graphic as well, a kid just had to chop someone’s hand off, ugh.

I might pick up Rogues again later and read one of the short stories.

    1. I can understand. I still liked the 5th book in general, there were too many characters I cared about and Hogwarts is one of my favourite settings. They kinda lost me as a fan of Harry himself though and I did not like the 7th book at all, especially the ending. Not sure whether I actually want to reread it. 6th for sure, as I hardly remember it πŸ˜€

Did you end up reading the whole series?

  1. Great reads! I really want to add the whole entire collection of the new illustrated Harry Potter books to our collection. I might just get the first for now and then decide on the others later. Have you seen them? They are so beautiful. ❀

      1. Uuuuh, and I just saw it’s 50% off on bookdepository! That makes it under 30, which is good! I can’t get books from amazon here in Australia, only ebooks and books at the store are super expensive, I think I saw the Potter editions for around 50$ πŸ˜€

      2. Aww! Still 30 at half off? I saw it at our closest bookstore for 39.99 and I thought that was too high. I know they’re worth it, but don’t want to go broke.

I didn’t know you couldn’t get books from Amazon there. I hope that will soon change! I would die without Amazon, lol. The closest bookstore is near an hour away and way to expensive for my budget. πŸ˜‰

    1. Yess! They are BOTH acting like babies. And I am really surprised that Dumbledore doesn’t appear at all in the first half of the book, apart from the hearing and the start of school term. I didn’t remember that.

  2. Yeah, Emo Harry was not a good change. I think the Dumbledore change was the one that bugged me the most, though. Harry has puberty as an excuse, at least. For me, it was Luna and Ginny who saved the series.
