End of the Year-Challenge

I am doing it again πŸ˜€

Last year, I tried to get rid of my TBR by the end of the year, so I could start the next year fresh with new books. I didn’t manage it last year but brought my TBR down to 2 books. I enjoyed this challenge so I thought I will try it again.

So here are all the books on my TBR:

Books: 4

  • The Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King
  • Black Sun Rising by C.S. Friedman
  • Desperation by Stephen King
  • Re-Read: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling

Started: 3

  • Stranger of Tempest by Tom Lloyd 185/457
  • Re-Read: Rogues by GRRM and Gardner Dozois 201/909
  • Re-Read: A Cavern of Black Ice by J.V. Jones 160/804

Ebooks: 1

wit'ch 4

  • Re-Read: Wit’ch Gate by James Clemens

Started: 2

  • Swan Song by Robert McCammon (15/100%)
  • Re-Read: Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson (50/100%)

I listed the Re-Reads as well, because I have started a couple and want to still read the 2 I haven’t started yet.

I have almost 3 months for that, so I am optimistic!

Is anyone else setting any challenges for the rest of the year?

  1. My challenge at the moment is to read at all 😦 I’m still paddling through The Expanse, and Tremontaine restarts this week – but I’m struggling with anything else. I’d like to take a chunk out of my ARC backlog by end of year, but we’ll see…

  2. No goals as such, but it helps for me that my TBR isn’t something I try to put an end to to. It’s a continual turning over, kind of like mowing a lawn or doing the dishes πŸ˜€

However, I AM anticipating your review of Tempest. I’ve read enough “decent” reviews so far that I suspect I will read it, but more info from others is always nice.

    1. I’m more than halfway through & enjoying it a lot πŸ™‚ might even be done by tomorrow! And have a review up by next week.

That’s good that you don’t get freaked out by your TBR! I can’t deal with too many unread books unfortunately – for some reason.

      1. It helps that I KNOW I am going to read, eventually, every book on my tbr. 2 years is along time to plan out, but it keeps me focused on the books I really want to read.

And glad to hear that about Tempest. Doing the buddy reads with you has really allowed me to trust your reviews πŸ˜€

  4. A tbr of two books? That makes me want to cry! I have a physical tbr in my home of over 830!!! My challenge at the moment is to read SOMETHING! I’m in a slump right now. By the end of the year I want to have read about another 60 books to get this tbr down a bit. Next year, I want it down to 500!
