My September

It feels like I wrote my August recap just a couple of days ago! Why did September go over so quickly?! Probably because it was a much nicer and warmer month, we still had it really cold sometimes, especially in the morning, but mostly it’s sunny and around 20 degrees now. We even had a 31 degree day! I also worked a lot and had many long shifts, so my days went over quickly.

What I read

Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski –> finished! It was a collection of short stories and I was not convinced at all at the start. I liked the last ones though and especially the one that set up for the coming book. So I will keep on going, maybe even next month.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by Joanne K. Rowling –> finished! I enjoyed it, as always.

Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan –> finished! I’m so happy I started this trilogy and have 2 more books to go. Great setting & characters and no boring parts, I was impressed, this might become a favourite and is in the run for best book this year, yay!

Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher –> 364/480 pages. It’s complicated 😀 Such a weird and fascinating book at the same time, I can’t wait to see how it ends, maybe I will even finish it today (I have a Saturday off for a change). I am looking forward to writing a review on it, there’s a lot to say.

Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon –> 13% in. This is very entertaining so far as well. I am glad that the attack happened already and we can now spend the rest of the book reading about characters trying to survive and dealing with all the chaos and destruction.

What I listened to

Blood Rites. Dresden Files 6 by Jim Butcher –> Chapter 11 of 42. Yes, I started an audio book. I am trying it out, on audible. The reason is, that in probably half a year I will be very, very busy for a while and won’t have as much time sitting down to read. This is a good option then. I was excited to see that James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) is reading the Dresden Files. I love listening to him, he’s doing a great job!

What I want to read next month

Stranger of Tempest by Tom Lloyd –> next in line, after ‘Beyond Redemption’.

Desperation by Stephen King –> maybe I’ll read it closer to Halloween 🙂

The Crimson Campaign by Brian McClellan –> Next in line on my Kindle, after I am done with ‘Swan Song’.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by Joanne K. Rowling –> New month, new Potter. I bought it last week and they all look so pretty on my bookshelf!

What I am watching

We are 2 episodes into The Deuce. Mr. DZ is not convinced yet and will only give it one more episode. I like it, as it gives me ‘The Wire’-vibes. With more sex. Half of the cast seems to have been in ‘The Wire’ as well, so it does help!

We watched a couple of episodes of Vikings, from the second part of season 4. It’s okay, but I kinda don’t care about any of Ragnar’s sons. I like Ragnar, Floki, Lagertha and Bjorn and want to see more of them.^^ We will finish this season though and then decide whether we will watch Season 5.

The second season of the Shannara Chronicles will start this month as well and I like what I see in the trailers. I hope that Manu Bennett has a super big role this time.

The Walking Dead will probably start soon as well. But I lost interest and am not even sure whether I want to see it..

Anything else?

Yessss, we went to the Wrestling in Melbourne and saw the Hardy Boyz, Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Dean Ambrose etc. Was great!

Matt & Jeff Hardy vs Cesaro and Sheamus
Braun Strowman! He’s looking impressive! Unfortunately he lost his match against Roman reigns -.- But at least he didn’t have to raise his hand after!

The garden is looking great as well, I didn’t know Passionfruit flowers are that beautiful! We have the plant for about 2 years now and just let it do its thing (it went WILD!). This is the first year it has tons of flowers – can’t wait for all of them to open!

I had this in the city before we went to the Wrestling, it’s a Toblerone cocktail and was yummy!

  1. I’m finding it hard to get motivated to watch season four of The Walking Dead…yes I’m way behind! I just got bored by Rick’d madness and Andrea’s sex life. I did like all the prison scenes though. Not sure when I’ll get back to it now. So many things still to watch!

  2. Ugh, I still need to watch The Walking Dead. My husband has seen it all and keeps telling me to watch it. I did see the very first episode, but no others.

Such beautiful pics! I love the Hardy Boyz. Would you believe I actually met them? I have their autographs. They were actually at a local bar in my hometown when I was like 17. So much fun!

So glad to find your blog and can’t wait to chat! ❤ Great post!

  3. I’ve been seeing Brian McClellan around more lately. Will keep an eye out for him.

Oh I still have to watch the last part of the Shannara Chronicles. Whoops. I’ve been reading more than watching things, haha. We’ve kind of lost interest in The Walking Dead as well. We still have to see last season and finish the season before that. It’s just so gruesome sometimes, I’m not really in the mood for that.

  4. oh gosh yes *finally* Shannara is coming back- and the trailer looks awesome- so I’m in! Are the earlier seasons of Vikings good? I’ve been wondering for a while and I’m a bit stumped for tv at the minute. And yeah, I lost interest in Walking Dead too- I had access to all of the episodes recently and tried to get back into it- but nah it wasn’t for me anymore.
    Also WOW for that cocktail!

    1. Yay Shannara HYPE! 😀
We enjoyed the early seasons, yep. It’s a bit bleak and does only have a little supernatural feel to it, but we loved the setting, the characters and even the fight scenes were good, considering their budget wasn’t that high. They are getting bigger every season though.

It seems like everyone feels the same about TWD. It’s also just going nowhere… If there was a cure or some endgame.. But for now, the story just repeats itself over and over.
How far did you get? We are up to date, but Season 3 remains our favourite. After that, it slowly started to get worse
