August seemed like such a long month! It just wouldn’t be over. I suppose it’s always like that with the last month of winter. We also had some horribly cold days and I am just over it. Today it should be a little better but although spring is about to start officially tomorrow, it doesn’t look like it yet.
Anyways.. good news is, that all of our 3 chickens are laying now and we get about 12 eggs a week, yay!
What I read
The Powder Mage Novella Collection by Brian McClellan –> finished! My review is here. I loved the short stories, especially the last one was great.
Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames –> finished! Enjoyed reading it very much! A review will follow the next days. Great idea for a fantasy novel. Had the right amount of funny and emotional scenes and I really understand why a lot of people love it!
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman –> finished! Love Gaiman’s style of writing! Cute little short story collection, that gives you an insight into the myths of the Norsemen. Lots of sneaky Loki and dumb brute Thor^^
Coraline by Neil Gaiman –> finished! The review is here. Was surprised I liked it so much! Now it’s time to watch the movie.
Nimona by Noelle Stevenson –> finished! Alright, but nothing more than that. I liked aspects of the story but Nimona annoyed me and I wasn’t a big fan of the style. Also, I don’t think Graphic Novels are for me.
Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski –> 247/374 pages. Not sure. The 4th story was the first one that convinced me, before that it was pretty average. Especially since Geralt wasn’t very active and more like an observer. Apart from the second story, but that was bullshit, so let’s not talk about the second story. Or Yennefer. Let’s pretend she doesn’t exist^^ At the moment I am not sure whether I want to continue after this book. I need to do more research first and see what role Yennefer will play. If it’s a big one, I am outta here!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by Joanne K. Rowling –> 205/617 pages. First time reading this in English! I forgot how big it was! It feels a little like reading it for the first time. The German translations are pretty good but still, it’s not the Original^^ I enjoy reading it very much so far! But book 4 always was a favourite together with 1 & 2.
Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan –> 23% in! Wow, I did not expect this to start like that! What an interesting clusterfuck! I love seeing all the characters I know from the short story collection and like where this is going! Tamas is not so likeable anymore though! But Taniel is. And Ka-poel (is it wrong to ship?!) is slowly becoming my fave.
That is all pretty good for me, I finished 5 books and started 3 others, I will have reached my goal of 30 books a year next month and already read more books than in 2016.
What I am watching
I have to fill the hole that Game of Thrones left in my life! So what am I doing? Yep. I am re-watching and am already in Season 4!! Also, I am trying to find a new show. There’s a couple on my radar I want to try out.
The Deuce, a new HBO show starring James Franco will start next week. It takes place in New York in the 1970’s and 80’s and focuses on the porn industry there. We will see if we like it, we always give HBO shows a chance.
Ripper Street is a show Mr DZ is not interested in, so I will watch it on my own. I admit, I only want to see it because it has Jerome Flynn (Bronn) and Matthew MacFadyen (Mr. Darcy) chasing Jack the Ripper together^^
End of the post = bunny pictures!
