A nation in darkness. A community in danger. Everyone in a state of panic.
After a U.S anti-missile system in Europe malfunctions and fires upon Germany, a deadly retaliation follows in the United States with a series of coordinated attacks. Millions are killed, the electrical grid is obliterated, and the country falls into darkness. As remaining survivors are thrust into a state of panic, officers from a wilderness correctional camp in Idaho and a group of troubled youth must fight to stay alive while trying to save family and community.
Well, I did not even make it through the sample. It’s about a group of troubled youths in a camp in Idaho, making a stand against Nazi Zombies. No, thanks. The protagonist is a 17year old kid talking about how awful everything is for him and describing the members o his group, who are all fucked up teenagers.
I don’t recommend it and will not read it. Not for me.
The city states of the Lowlands have lived in peace for decades, bastions of civilization, prosperity and sophistication, protected by treaties, trade and a belief in the reasonable nature of their neighbors. But meanwhile, in far-off corners, the Wasp Empire has been devouring city after city with its highly trained armies, its machines, it killing Art . . . And now its hunger for conquest and war has become insatiable. Only the aging Stenwold Maker, spymaster, artificer and statesman, can see that the long days of peace are over. It falls upon his shoulders to open the eyes of his people, before a black-and-gold tide sweeps down over the Lowlands and burns away everything in its path. But first he must stop himself from becoming the Empire’s latest victim.
I need to stop picturing the characters as actual insects! No,there are NO giant ants & beetles running around!! I love it though, that the characters have insect characteristics. There are mantis-‘kinden’, spiderpeople, beetles, ants.. And they are all very different to each other. The mantis people are really good fighters but for some reason always angry. The ants can talk to each other in their minds, the spider-ladies are the ones in charge and the men are freaked out by them 😀
In the start I thought I wouldn’t like it, but the further I went the more I got into the story. I like the characters introduced and am curious to see where it goes.
Definitely a YES!
