Movie Monday: Wrestlers Turned Actors

Something a little different today. Here you go – Wrestlers who picked up acting (some more successful than others^^)

The Rock –> Maybe even the most successful Hollywood actor at the moment? Who would have thought ‘Rocky Maiavia’ would go this far? You mostly see him in action movies, but he’s also pretty good at comedies! The Fast and the Furies, The Scorpian King, Snitch, Hercules, Get Smart and Moana are just a few of his movies. He’s also the star of HBO’s Ballers and an upcoming Jumanji sequel. Busy man!

Batista –> From ‘Deacon Batista’ to ‘Drax, the Destroyer’! And not only that. He started out with cameos and small role and is now part of the big Marvel franchise. He will not only be in the next Guardians of the Galaxy, but also in Avengers: Infinity War and Blade Runner 2049. Lots of other stuff coming up, Looks like he’s an established actor now, good on him! Oh yes, and he was one of the bad guys in Spectre. I think he said one word in the whole movie^^

John Cena –> But you CAN’T SEE HIM. Mwahaha. John Cena is getting more and more roles as well. He started out doing some WWE produced movies like The Marine or 12 Rounds, but had a bigger part in Trainwreck and stole the show there if you ask me. He has some more comedies coming up, like Daddy’s Home 2 and can be seen in the war thriller The Wall.

Kane –> He was in 2 Horror movies. See no Evil & See no Evil 2! Mostly in WWE produced stuff.

Kevin Nash –> Big Daddy Cool is doing good for himself! He was in Magic Mike, John Wick and The Punisher! He also has some more roles lined up, which makes me happy! He’s one of the few from his generation not having troubles with alcohol & drugs…

Triple H –> HE WAS IN BLADE:TRINITY! And is great in it, I would have loved him to pick up more movie roles, but he’s probably too busy running a company at the moment….

Steve Austin –> He actually has more movies out than I thought. His most notable role is probably in The Expendables, where he plays one of the bad guys. I love those movies… He stars in The Condemned which is kinda like the Hunger Games for adults with more shooting and action, minus the romance. He was the lead in a couple of other action movies, but all not very popular.

the miz

The Miz –> Did The Marine 3, 4 & 5 and was in tons of TV shows.

Randy Orton –> Was in 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded, The Condemned 2, Countdown and I just found out that he will be in a comedy movie by Seth Green called Changeland!

Edge/ Adam Copeland –> Did mostly TV. He played the role of Dwight Hendrickson in Haven, which I haven’t seen. Also will be seen in Vikings. Not sure how big his role will be, it says he will only appear in 3 episodes.

Seth Rollins appears in one scene of Sharknado 4, Dean Ambrose did a movie produced by the WWE that I still have to watch and Kurt Angle had a few cameos in a couple of movies like Sharknado 2 or Pain & Gain. Andre the Giant was in The Princess Bride and you can see Hulk Hogan in this and that^^

Movies that feature lots of Wrestlers & Wrestling are

Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies & Ready to Rumble

  1. Triple H is also in a comedy that WWE studios made but I can’t remember it’s name!πŸ˜‚

Ambrose is in Twelve Rounds 3: Lockdown, it’s actually not a bad film, definitely not great but watchable for an hour and a half.

Oh, Deacon Batista, what a gimmick and Brother D’von!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    1. Oooh, I didn’t even know they did a comedy,I’ll hunt it down πŸ˜€

That’s good to hear about the Ambrose movie, I like watching him anyways and think he’d do well as an actor.

I totally forgot about Deacon Batista until recently when we were rewatching some old Wrestling πŸ˜€ Ah, so many horribly awesome gimmicks back then.. I might make a list at some point and it will include the Shockmaster and the Repo Man πŸ˜€

McGruber also has a group of wrestlers in one scene.

Try catching Christian in Shoot Em Up, blink at you will miss him.

John Morrison is also doing a few straight to DVD Movies and Eve Torres was in the 4th Scorpion King

  3. Before he passed away, i always thought Mick Fowley(spelling might be wrong), played as the funny man in Boondock Saints(personal favorite of mine). Think his stage name if i remember correct was Mankind

  5. Hello Dragonsandzombies, sorry I am late to this conversation but I have just been introduced to your site via Mr and Mrs NW’s Navigating Worlds blog.
I believe Kevin Nash was a body double for Shredder in the first or second TMNT movie and I know Steve “The Icon Sting” Borden was in “Shutterspeed” which was quite a good film.
And a few more for fun, Rowdy Roddy Piper was also in “Hell comes to Frogtown” while Captain Lou Albano appeared in the Cyndi Lauper video “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.
Finally….Bill Goldberg appears in Universal Soldier with Jean Claude Van-Damme.
If you or your readers are interested, I design custom lightsabers and have quite a few wrestling themed hilts including one I made and sent to “Johnny Jeter” of The Spirit Squad! If you would like to see those designs and more then here is a link:

Thank you Dragonsandzombies, I really enjoyed this post.
