Movie Monday: Favourite Science Fiction Movies

New week, new movie list! I will give you my favourite SciFi movies. I haven’t watched too much from this Genre, so I am always happy for recommendations 🙂

Just like last time – feel free to join me and share your list!

Terminator –> mostly the first and second. Although it all doesn’t make sense, it’s super entertaining and I can’t help but love Arnie. Especially the humour in the second is great!

Star Wars –> I mean the original trilogy and ‘The Force Awakens’. I ignore the others. I don’t know how often I watched them and still do. The 3 originals are awesome movies and probably would be in my all-time favourite list.

Equilibrium –> Just recently watched it and it blew my mind! Awesome movie and so intense!

Spaceballs –> Not my favourite Python but still very entertaining!

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure –> Loved it as a kid – I also had a crush on Keanu Reeves…

The Butterfly Effect –> Very captivating movie! I was super into it and even watched it a second time. Something I don’t often do anymore. if it’s not a very special movie.

Armageddon –> Dramaaa and the music!!

Looper –> Also watched recently. Loved the story and the acting was great!

The Martian –> I loved the books and thought they did a really good job with the movie! I was impressed

Dune

As a Bonus, What’s on my to watch-list:

The Matrix Trilogy

Alien

Blade Runner

Total Recall

Elysium

Galaxy Quest

Arrival

  1. Bill & Ted, best movies EVER!!!!
I haven’t seen Looper yet, but I’ll probably get around to it at some point.
I also liked Spaceballs quite a bit, but it took about 3 viewings before I really admitted that I liked it. It was just so crass.
I’ve enjoyed ALL the terminator movies myself. Some were definitely not as good, but I still liked them. I also enjoyed the tv show, The Sarah Connor Chronicles. sadly, it was cancelled after season 2 and ends on cliffhanger so big that it is impossible to not get pissed about.

I’d recommend Edge of Tomorrow/Live. Die. Repeat. I didn’t care for the light novel it was based on, but really enjoyed the movie.

  2. Ah thanks! I’ll put it on the list! I never really liked SciFi movies when I was younger but recently I am getting more into them.. Same with books. I was never interested but after ‘Dune’ there’s a couple Science Fiction novels on my list.

Oh, GOOD that I didn’t watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles! I was planning to, when it came out because of Sumnmer Glau and Lena Headey^^ Makes you scared to commit to SiFi shows, doesn’t it? They will probably get cancelled… Ahem.. Firefly…..

  3. Star Wars- agreed! And Terminator 1 and 2 as well- especially T2. I’ve never seen Looper…

I thought Arrival was quite good. Blade Runner I like for the atmosphere mostly, and the original Total Recall is a trip. Almost over the top and silly at the end, but some fun Arnie moments in the first half. I always laugh when I watch that movie…

  4. Oh, I love a good SF movie! The Martian is a go-to feel-good movie in our house, and I have a lot of time for Looper. We don’t mention those Star Wars prequels what the no no no – just the trilogy and TFA 😉

I am a big fan of Alien (and have a soft spot for almost all the sequels) and Arrival – amazing art direction is a sure way to my heart unless the script is horrible (…so I didn’t see Passengers, but loved the first Matrix film) – so I think you have some treats in store!

I adore the SF of Christopher Nolan – for being beautiful and clever and heartbreaking (but often slow – so lots of people hate Interstellar, but… wow, FEELINGS) – Inception remains a firm favourite. Likewise Ex Machina and Twelve Monkeys, although it’s a long time since I’ve seen it now. And always, inevitably, Serenity ❤ (just for FEELINGS really; and the scenes on Miranda, which are perfectly chilling).

    1. Oh yes, ‘Inception’! I didn’t know what was going on during the first part of the movie but the second part made it much clearer. I still can’t make up my mind whether I liked it or not^^ I’m still thinking about it though, which is a good thing! Interstellar will be added to the list as well! I’ve heard a lot of good things so far. Same as with Ex Machina and Twelve Monkeys, thanks! 🙂
