Top Ten Tuesday: Things that will make me instantly interested in a book

toptentuesday2

I took next week’s question and modified it a little. It’s not about things that make me want to read a book immediately but things that make me want to check it out some more. Dear book, you have to….

Be written by one of my favourite authors –> If you are written by either Robin Hobb, Jennifer Fallon, Brandon Sanderson, Steven Erikson, GRRM or Stephen King, you WILL get picked up, as soon as I see your name on it. Authors are constantly added to my list. Even if I already read a book by the author and liked it, I will probably check out others by him or her as well.

Be a Fantasy book –> When I am in a book store, I will always check out the Fantasy section first.

Have dragons in it –> You have a dragon? You definitely catch my eye! Although I am scared a bit now.. After I heard about books with DRAGONS on the COVER and in the actual TITLE, that didn’t feature dragons!!! How can you!

Be written about the end of the world as we know it –> I love to read about how people cope with the apocalypse!

Have Zombies –> Combined with the last this will make me even more interested!

Be a biography by a wrestler –> The odd one out. I love my wrestling. And an insight into the business is always super interesting for me!

Feature a magic school –> I can’t resist! Thanks to Harry Potter!

Promise a slow burn romance –> But please no love triangle involved in any way.

Be recommended by my best friend –> Because she has great taste and we mostly like the same books!

      1. Ugh! Omg. I tried a book by her earlier this year, probably the same one but I forgot, and I couldn’t complete it. Didn’t like it at all. I couldn’t stand the writing.

  1. I like this list. I always go to fantasy first too ha ha. Genre of choice. 🙂 And yes, if it has dragons in the title and/ or the cover, they BETTER be in the story! End of the world and magic schools always get close attention as well. 🙂
