February 2017

February was a happy, happy month for me! Lots of good news, we finished renovating our kitchen and one of our chickens finally laid her first egg, yay!

That’s Chyna – she’s an Araucana and her eggs are green. They can also be lavender or blue I read. Since she started laying in the beginning of the month she’s given us one egg every 2nd day. Until she started laying every day 4 days ago. And one of those was a massive egg πŸ˜€ We have 2 more Rhode Island Reds but they haven’t started laying yet.

I finished 3 books this month, just like in January. This time I liked them a lot more although none of them is a highlight for me. Still waiting on the first really awesome book this year.

What I read

Dune by Frank Herbert –> finished! I spent a lot of time talking about it and although it wasn’t such a big hit for me, some parts still impressed me. Still considering reading the second book, especially since it’s rather short. Can someone tell me, if there are more sandworms? πŸ˜€

Slash by Slash & Anthony Bozza –> finished! Sometimes I pick up one of my Boyfriend’s books. He mostly reads biographies and we just went to a Guns n Roses concert, that was much, much better than expected. Axl wasn’t as out of shape as I feared and Slash was GREAT! His lifestyle isn’t, though.. or wasn’t^^ Definitely interesting to read if you’re a fan.

The Singer of All Songs by Kate Constable –> finished! I didn’t even plan to read this but somehow, after the biography, I felt like some simple ‘magical girl’-Fantasy. The book was exactly what I expected it to be. Light and easy with likeable characters and a straight-forward quest. Lots of magic, lots of travelling, lots of clichees, a slowly developing romance and an ending, that was a bit of a let down. I will probably check out the other 2 books of the trilogy as well.

The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin –> page 411. Oh man, this is too dramatic for me at the moment. And this one character I hated since book 1 turned up again, ugh. I will pick it up again later though. I really want to finish the whole trilogy and move on.

Books I want to read in March

Misery by Stephen King –> I know, that was on my Feb list already πŸ˜€

Arcanum Unbounded by Brandon Sanderson –> I miss Sanderson

A Cavern of Black Ice by J.V. Jones –> I decided to re-read this on our Western Australia-holiday in a few weeks.

  1. Oh a green egg?! That’s so awesome!! We used to have chickens when I was a kid, but they were just the average chickens and I’m pretty sure I named mine after a literary character.πŸ˜‚ Typical bookworm me. Hehe. Glad you had one particularly good read, but I hope you get to read something utterly fantastic next month too!!

  2. Dune Messiah is not only far shorter than its predecessor, it also changes the pace and the focus (I’m not going to tell you more for fear of spoilers). On the other hand, it’s a game changer…

And green eggs? (or lavender, or blue). That’s amazing! πŸ™‚
