Top Ten Tuesday: Books that were recommended to me

hosted by the Broke and the Bookish

The Magician’s Guild / Trudi Canavan –> One of my best friends from school loved the trilogy and gave me the first book. I enjoyed it as well, although some things annoyed me about it.

The Spook’s Apprentice / Joseph Delaney –> One of my friends was really excited. I gave it a try but it just wasn’t for me. Maybe if I was younger.

Farseer Chronicles / Robin Hobb –> I have to thank one of my friends who mostly likes the same books I do. She kept pushing me and telling me how awesome the books were until I picked up the first Farseer novel. And I loved it soo much!!

Mud, Sweat and Tears / Bear Grylls –> The first book my partner gave to me, when we just started dating years ago πŸ™‚ Made me check out some more biographies after that.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo / Stieg Larsson –> My mom kept talking about the books and how awesome they were. I was curious and tried it out. Loved all three!

Watch Series / Sergej Lukianenko –> The books over which I met my best friend at uni πŸ™‚ She was so excited about them and it resulted in me buying the first three books in one!

Throne of Glass / Sarah J. Maas –> One of my colleagues at work praised the series and I check it out. Didn’t like it though

Temeraire Series / Naomi Novik –> Also recommended to me by my best friend because she knows I like dragons and heart-warming scenes πŸ™‚

The Color of Magic / Terry Pratchett –> One of my cousins introduced me to the Discworld many years ago. I am so glad she did!

The Demon King / Cinda Williams Chima –> Seen on various blogs, always with exciting reviews!

  1. I’ve had amazing reading in 2016 because of recommendations, and Temeraire is a big part of that. Bromance, dragons and social politics – HOORAY. Also alt history, but that’s not necessarily the bit I love most, although I delight in it when it’s this well done πŸ™‚

  2. Yeay, I’m happy πŸ™‚
I mentioned Farseer as well (recommended by you :*) and also the Trudi Canavan series (remember, Nazurka sent it to me years ago)
And YES for Temeraire and the Watch Series πŸ˜€
    I can’t remember how I found Temeraire… I guess it was just like – “hey dragons – bought” πŸ˜€
And I remember that my first long time boyfriend got the first Lukianenko book for his birthday and the second for Christmas and I read both before he did.

When you were reading the Watch series at university, I was reading priest by Trudi Canavan and you said: “Ugh, that book is kind of crappy…” And um yap you are right πŸ˜€
