hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

I am pretty stingy when it comes to buying new books, especially if I still have books TBR at home.. But I just ignore this now and give you the 10 books I would buy immediately if I had the power 😉 Pre-Ordering doesn’t count.

        smokebittershade

Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman –> it’s been a while since I last read a Gaiman book and I always loved his short stories

Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet by Charlie N. Holmberg –> so far I read & liked everything by Holmberg and just recently found out about this book

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab –> normally I stay away from YA, but it really sounds cool and there are a lot of positive reviews. I will try it, but before that I need to do some more research.. and see if there is a love triangle involved. If so, nope, thanks

killersswancell

Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell –> because I need more Scandinavian thrillers in my life

Swan Song by Robert McCammon –> A dystopian novel that sounds like The Stand by Stephen King and I loved this book.

Cell by Stephen King –> Stephen King and ZOMBIES! NEEED THIS!

seerzerodragon

Seer of Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier –> I should catch up on this and see if the books keep getting better again

Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry –> Zombies.

His Majesty’s Dragon. Temeraire 1 by Naomi Novik –> after I loved Uprooted so much, I have to start the Temeraire series. Also, Dragons.

windup girl

The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi –> sounds like something very different. Dystopian setting

  1. I read and enjoyed Cell when it was published. I think you’ll find it an interesting read — and one you should check out before the movie comes out.

I cannot recommend the Temeraire series enough. Please, please read it! 🙂

  2. The Cell is an awesome book. They recently made it into a movie and some people didn’t like it but me and my husband thought it was really good. Of course, it’s been years since I read the book so I really couldn’t compare the two. It may helped that it starred John Cuzack and Samuel Jackson and I adore them both. Wonderful list!
